Relocating to Palm Springs w/ kids

Palm Springs is great for raising a family. Low crime rate and many cultural attractions. The Palm Springs Art Museum is the largest Art Museum between Pasadena/LA and Phoenix. Palm Canyon Drive has excellent shops, coffee shops and restaurants. Look for an Old Spanish style home in the Historic District just west of Palm Canyon Drive. And last but not least, traveling in and out of the Palm Springs airport is a breeze compared to larger city airports!

I am potentially looking into a job that would relocate my family to the PS area. Our kids are young, 5 & 3. How is PS for raising a family? What areas are good to live? I am kind of partial to the Old Spanish style homes. Would love to live in an area that has shops, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. within walking distance. Any input about living in PS would be appreciated. How is travel in & out of the airport there? Thanks
