Pilates has proven itself for more than 80 years as an effective and safe
method of exercise, when taught and applied correctly. It has become
the workout of choice for dancers, gymnasts and fitness enthusiasts
for decades. Joe Pilates was a genius well beyond his time, he
didn’t just develop a brilliant approach to fitness that includes
over 500 exercises, he also engineered all the equipment specifications
and tuning required to teach them properly. There is no debate
that his original approach can work wonders when applied by a
qualified instructor.
Through Pilates you purposefully acquire complete control of your
own body and then, through proper repetition of its exercises,
you gradually and progressively acquire that natural rhythm and
coordination associated with all your mental and subconscious
activities. Pilates is designed to give you suppleness, natural
grace and skill that will be unmistakably reflected in the way
you walk, play and work. Pilates may just be words to many people,
but the exercises and philosophies of Joseph and Clara Pilates
taught by Rudy Gizzi are widely regarded as true Pilates.
About Rudy Gizzi: Rudy grew up in Chicago and was a gymnast in
his teens. For over twenty years he taught aerobics with Richard
Simmons and Jane Fonda. Six years ago Rudy’s friend Jay Grimes,
a Pilates Elder, encouraged him to try Pilates. Rudy Gizzi became
a dedicated student of Jay’s. Jay is a Master Teacher who studied
with Joe & Clara Pilates in New York and who introduced the Classical
Pilates Method to Los Angeles.
