Patty Sheehan Wins The Nabisco Dinah Shore

1993 LPGA Hall of Fame inductee, Patty Sheehan, notched the 35th win and sixth major tournament victory of her career to win the 1996 Nabisco Dinah Shore.

Robbins bogeyed the par-5 18th hole to drop to 6-under-par 282. She watched Sorenstam do the same right before Sheehan holed a three-foot birdie putt on the par-3 17th to move to 7-under. Sheehan knocked in a five-foot par putt on the final hole to clinch the $135,000 first prize and celebrated with a cartwheel on the green.

39-year-old Sheehan, who began the round tied for the lead with Brandie Burton, shot a 1-under 71 for 7-under 281. Robbins, Sorenstam and Meg Mallon finished tied for second, one shot back.

Robbins, who last year ended Sheehan's two-year hold on the LPGA Championship, began the day four shots off the pace but fired a 5-under 67 to move into a tie for the lead before her fateful bogey.

Sorenstam, the 1995 Player of the Year who won last year's U.S. Women's Open, carded a final-round 69. Mallon, who won the LPGA Championship and the U.S. Open in 1991, also shot a 69.
