Family Fun Night Presents Ken Frawley’s Howlin’ Halloween Party!

Come dressed in your Halloween costume and enjoy a fun and only slightly spooky (appropriate for preschoolers) look at one of America’s most popular holidays—through stories and songs performed by Ken [pictured at right]. Enjoy songs like “Let’s all Roar” and “Witches, Ghosts and Goblins” and be spellbound by Halloween stories like “Debra’s Halloween” and “The Bear Ghost.”

Following the show, everyone is invited to participate in trick-or-treating inside the library. It will be a fun evening for the whole family! The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Youth Room.

Boo!seum at the Museum

Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert, 71-701 Gerald Ford Dr., Rancho Mirage, CA 92270

Boo!seum at the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert is a kid-friendly Halloween-themed celebration. There will be a Costume Parade at 3:30 p.m (come in costume and receive $1 off admission). “Silly and spooky” activities will include games, crafts, science experiments, pumpkin carving, and more. There will be a limited number of spaces, so pre-register. Admission is $5 per participant.

Halloween Happenings

The afternoon of fun includes: Carnival Games, 2:30-4:00 pm – Drop in at any point for some challenging carnival-style games in the Children’s Room and by the West Entrance. Parade of Costumes, 4:00-4:30 pm – The annual parade and trick-or-treating throughout the Library. Buster Balloon Spook’Tacular, 4:30-5:30 pm – Creepy comedy, spooky magic and monstrous balloon creations guaranteed to make you howl with laughter and scream with delight.

Halloween Spooktacular at Fall Fest

Cathedral City Civic Center Plaza, 68700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero, Cathedral City, CA 92234

Halloween Spooktacular will include free admission as well as exhibits sponsored by non-profit organizations, the Cathedral City Police Department and Cathedral City Fire Department. Families are encouraged to come to this fun, interactive event where children can trick or treat in a safe environment.  Children will receive a limited number of free trick or treat bags so that they can go home and celebrate with their family in their own neighborhoods as well.

In addition to games and trick or treating, families can interact with fire trucks, police vehicles, police motorcycle patrols, and the men and women who serve in those departments. This creates an opportunity for residents to connect with public safety officials to build safe communities in Cathedral City. The event will also feature hourly costume contest. The City will donate several bicycles for a Halloween Costume Contest during the festivities.

Howl-O-Ween – A Zoo Adventure

Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, 47900 Portola Ave., Palm Desert, CA 92260

The Living Desert’s family-friendly Halloween event returns with the wildly popular Howl-O-Ween, a not-so-spooky zoo adventure. The 23nd annual Howl-O-Ween is set for Sunday, October 29, from 9 am to 1 pm and Tuesday, October 31, from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. Free for members or with paid admission.

Visitors are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes and enjoy the exciting activities planned. Howl-O-Ween attendees under 12 are encouraged to bring a reusable bag to hit the trick-or-treat trail with a large variety of treat stations. Howl-O-Ween visitor ghosts, goblins, and super-heroes can visit the park’s African animals– trick or treat with the cheetahs and zebras, say boo to the warthogs, and wander through Village WaTuTu. Additional activities include pumpkin bowling, pumpkin decorating, face painting, a monster maze, live entertainment and more. Zookeepers will provide special animal encounters and The Living Desert’s zoo mascots will also be making appearances.
