MiMo
Gallery's name is an abbreviation for Mid-century Modern. Our
focus is on 20th century movements in furniture design and decorative
arts. The range of our collection spans from art deco, bauhaus,
mid century modern and 70's futuristic. We also collect and sell
op art and pop art pieces. Our merchandise are originated from
France, Italy, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and the USA.
Gabor Újvari and Beatrix Barbara Bikali,
proprietors of the gallery are certified appraisers with fifteen
years of experience in the modern antiques business. They recently
relocated to Palm Springs from Europe.
Gabor
and Beatrix have acquired an appreciation for mid-century modern
architecture which is part of the sophistication and historic
significance of Palm Springs. This tradition of architecture grew
out of the aesthetics of the world-renowned German Bauhaus and
is reflected in the work of Albert Frey (who designed many Palm
Springs structures including the Palm Springs City Hall, TRAM
station,
Movie Colony Hotel and Palm Springs Airport), Donald Wexler, Richard
Neutra, and other world-famous architects. Restoration projects
are now being undertaken all over the city to return
these homes and businesses to their original condition. Students
of mid-century architecture and design come to the city to study
its heritage in this unusual style of the decorative arts.
MiMo Gallery buys and sells furniture, lighting,
objects of fine and decorative arts, paintings, prints and graphics.
We collect and sell works by Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand,
Serge Mouille, Michel Buffet, Le Corbusier, Maria Pergay, Roger
Capron, George Jouvé, Gio Ponti, Victor Vasarely, Lajos
Kassák, Marcel Breuer, Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, Finn Juhl,
Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein among other noteworthy artists,
architects, artisans and designers. We also advise and consult
in art investment and home decoration, research for sought after
pieces of designers and lend our collection for commercials or
movie productions. |
